Giuseppe “Joe” De Gregorio
Visionary and versatile Jazz pianist, improviser, composer, bandleader, sideman, vocalist, educator and agent for social change.
Joe De Gregorio was born in Rome. Active as a performing artist on the International Jazz scene since 15 years, during his career has been consistently performing in Europe, Northern Africa and the US (NY), setting his personal journey on the pathways interconnecting these three continents so key to Jazz history. As sideman and band leader of various ensembles including his own Trio, Joe has performed in several Festivals and Jazz Clubs in Spain, France, Sweden, Italy, Monte Carlo, Morocco and USA (New York).
Has collaborated with numerous European, American and African artists, such as: Francesco Puglisi, Mauro and Carlo Battisti, Tony Arco, Dré Pallemaerts, Yoni Zelnik, David Brown, Majid Bekkas.
Highlights
First prize at Luca Flores Jazz piano competition (Florence, Italy 2009) and at The Montecarlo International Competition for Jazz soloists (Monaco 2015).
Awarded with three International scholarships, at The Academy of Music and Drama (Gothenburg, Sweden 2008) The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music (New York, USA 2016) and The Berklee College of Music (Boston, USA 2016).
Selected by Reggie Workman for the Coltrane ensemble at the New School of NYC.
Active on the New York Jazz scene from May 2016 leading his own ensemble, The NYC Gospel Jazz Syndicate, being hosted on a six months residency in Manhattan at the Bonafide Club owned by the famous Cameroonian bass player Richard Bona.
