Giuseppe “Joe” De Gregorio (short curriculum vitae)
Afro-Italian Pianist, composer, author, vocalist and producer born in Rome, First Prize of the Luca Flores Piano Competition (Florence, 2009) and First Prize of the International Competition for Jazz Soloists in Montecarlo (Monaco, 2015), Giuseppe “Joe” De Gregorio is active on the scene of International Jazz for over ten years on three continents, Europe, North Africa and North America (New York).
He has performed at the Parco della Musica in Rome (2019), Jamboree Jazz Club (Barcelona), Sunside Jazz Club (Paris), Bravo Jazz Club (Brussels), Princesse Grace Theater (Montecarlo), at the Villa des Arts in Rabat and Casablanca (Morocco), Rockwood Music Hall (New York), Bonafide Jazz club owned by Richard Bona, (New York) and Saint Peter’s Jazz Vespers (New York); he is the founder of 3 international collectives: Paris Gospel Jam (Paris, 2012), The Gospel Jazz Syndicate (New York, 2016) Brotherhood Afromed International Jazz Collective (Casablanca, 2020). Bandleader of various formations including the trio in his own name, he has recorded 6 self-produced discs of original music so far.
Highlights
Winner of four four international scholarships at the Academy of Music and Drama of Gothenburg (Sweden, 2008), at the Lazio Region with the “Torno Subito” call (2015 edition) and at two prestigious American institutions (New York and Boston, 2016): The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music of New York and the Berklee College of Music in Boston. He spent over a year of study and work in the USA. Starting from May 2016 he is active on the New York Jazz scene with his own group, The NYC Gospel Jazz Syndicate, welcomed for 6 months in permanent residence in the heart of Manhattan (from May 2016 to February 2017) at the Bonafide, at the time, Club owned by the famous Cameroonian bassist Richard Bona.
Among his mentors: Ramberto Ciammarughi, Karel Boehlee, John Taylor, Serge Lazarevitch, Reggie Workman, Cecil Bridgewater, Danilo Perez, Victor Wooten.

Pianista, compositore, vocalist, autore, produttore e didatta nato a Roma, primo premio del concorso pianistico Luca Flores (Firenze, 2009) e primo premio del Concorso Internazionale per solisti di Jazz di Montecarlo (Monaco, 2015), Giuseppe, in arte “Joe” De Gregorio, è attivo sulla scena del Jazz Internazionale da oltre dieci anni su ben tre continenti, Europa, Africa del Nord e Stati Uniti (New York) dove si è esibito con Jonathan Blake (Blue Note artist), Joel Frahm ed Ari Hoenig.
Bandleader di varie formazioni tra cui il trio a proprio nome, ha registrato sinora sei dischi auto prodotti collaborando con artisti internazionali tra cui il batterista Greg Hutchinson, il chitarrista David Reinhardt (nipote di Django) ed il bassista israeliano Yoni Zelnik (ECM recording artist).
Joe è il fondatore di 3 collettivi internazionali: Paris Gospel Jam (Parigi, 2012), The Gospel Jazz Syndicate (New York, 2016) Brotherhood AfroMed Jazz Network (Casablanca, 2020).

Highlights Vincitore di quattro quattro borse di studio Internazionali presso la Academy of Music and Drama di Gothenburg (Svezia, 2008), presso la Regione Lazio con il bando “Torno Subito” (edizione 2015) e presso due prestigiose istituzioni Americane (New York e Boston, 2016): The New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music of New York ed il Berklee College of Music di Boston. Ha trascorso negli USA un periodo di studio e lavoro di oltre un anno. A partire da Maggio 2016 è attivo sulla scena Jazz Newyorkese con il proprio gruppo, Il NYC Gospel Jazz Syndicate, accolto per 6 mesi in residenza stabile nel cuore di Manhattan (da Maggio 2016 a Febbraio 2017) presso il Bonafide, all’epoca, Club di proprietà del famoso bassista Camerunense Richard Bona.
